SUPPORT FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS THROUGH THE BRAIN SCIENCE PROGRAM
Guidelines to request fellowships for multidisciplinary students in the
Brain Sciences.
Graduate students can be nominated for Brain Science Fellowships by any
Brown University Brain Science Program participating graduate program.
[Physics, Applied Math, Engineering, or Computer Science, Neuroscience,
any Biomed grad program, Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences, and Psychology.]
Each nomination should include a CV, transcript and letter describing
the nature of the student's research. A copy of the graduate application
may substitute.
To be eligible students must be enrolled or accepted to one of these programs.
Note: Departments should be selective in nominating only those students
with multidisciplinary research interests, as appropriate to the study
of different aspects of the mind and brain.
Appointment last 12 months and ordinarily start September 1.
Support is renewable on an annual, but competitive basis, with no guarantee
of renewal. Decisions will be made by the BSP committee, prior to March
15. This is not intended to be a long term support mechanism for graduate
students. It is expected that students will be moved onto externally funded
research grants or other sources of support as soon as possible.
Deadline for application is February 15 annually on this date.
All Fellows will be expected to participate in BSP interdisciplinary activities, including monthly lunch meetings and seminars. An annual report of research and training activities will be required.
Support includes stipend, tuition, health fee, and health insurance.
Nominations should be submitted to:
