The Brain Science faculty draws on Brown's long tradition
of interdisciplinary studies. More than ninety faculty members from Cognitive
and Linguistic Sciences, Computer Science,
Neuroscience, Psychology,
Physics, Philosophy,
Psychiatry & Human Behavior, Clinical
Neuroscience, and the divisions of Applied
Mathematics, Biology and Medicine, and Engineering
combine biological, computational, and mathematical approaches to study
brain function. There is a strong interaction between those who develop
theories of brain function and those who test theories in the laboratory.
Students are encouraged to explore new ways to combine methods and ideas
in their research and course work, whether within graduate programs in
established disciplines, through the new cross-departmental Brain Science
Graduate Program, through undergraduate summer research experiences, or
through postdoctoral training.
